Frequently Asked Questions

What is your stance on AI? Do you use AI in any part of your works?

I do not use AI in any part of my works and never have any intention of doing so. As the existing models function based off of stolen content, I do not believe it is ethical to use them in any creative capacity. Also--especially as an indie author--I think it is important to financially support artists and editors.

What was your inspiration behind the series?

The seemingly unending cycles of violence waged allegedly in the name of religion and perhaps a few hundred fantasy books.

Is The Archcrusade Christian fiction?

It is not. The religions presented in the text are fictional, though there may be some overlap/inspiration adapted from existing practices from a variety of belief systems.

Are there any direct parallels between historical or modern day groups and the species, religions, or kingdoms presented in the book?

No. While I drew inspiration from the historical crusades (and threw in a couple "Easter eggs" for history buffs), there is no direct parallel between any cultural or religious subset from any time period with any part of my world. (E.g. the rhysiglai are not supposed to represent King Richard III's army; the High Priest is not supposed to represent the pope; etc.)

Is The Archcrusade the first book you've written?

It is the first book I have published but not the first I've written. The first full-length novel I wrote was back in 2007, and only a handful of long-ago middle schoolers will ever lay eyes on that flaming-hot-garbage piece of required-reading fanfic. The Archcrusade is my eighth novel, but it's the first that I was proud enough to formally put out into the world. Even so, I have been working on the trilogy since 2012, and the first tome underwent at least six re-writes.

What is the best way to support you/ which platforms give the highest kickback?

In-person events are the most lucrative way to obtain physical copies until I can set up a distribution method through this website. Until then, Barnes & Noble is the only online platform to buy either hard cover or paperback copies. Ebooks purchased through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or other retailers are all about the same profit margin.
